Twitter's @anywhere

Finally, I found some time to explore Twitter's @anywhere. The Drupal module that implements this new product is Twitter @Anywhere. Although it is a beta module, I have not experienced any problems with it. What is @anywhere, and is it different than other Twitter modules?

Facebook Social Plug-ins and Drupal

Of the seven specified, three of Facebook's social plug-ins are available in the "Facebook social plugins integration" module for Drupal 6.x. I implemented all three on this Web site. While there are still some open issues, the three are working..

Integration with Facebook

Facebook is taking on a new dimension. While new developer tools are exciting, how many of understand the old tools. Trying to understand Facebook is a daunting task, and the orgranization of their site does not make it any easier. The announcement of the new social plug-ins was no different. The announcement appeared once, and then disappeared. After a bit of searching, I found a few interesting, and important pages.

Web Accessibility Site Evaluation

Is your Web site accessible to those viewers with visual or auditory impairments? Could someone who has one of the seven form of color impairment view the information on your site? Could a person with a low-vision impairment see the information on your site? Could a person that uses an assistive device place an order? Do you have important audio information on your site that may not be accessible by a person with an auditory impairment? What about someone who has both visual and auditory impairments?

Take the Color Vision Survey

Since color vision checks are not a part of the standard eye exam, we really don't know how many individuals have some sort of visual impairment. The test given by some states as part of the driver's license exam, only applies to ability to read traffic signs. The sighted individual surfs an Internet full of color. An individual with normal color vision sees one world, a person with a color vision impairment sees another world. Consequently, sites that one individual sees as comfortable and easy to read may be extremely difficult for another person to read. To understand the full dimension of color vision, consider a Web site created by a person who has one form of color vision impairment, and how that pages appears to both viewers, both those with normal color vision and those with another form of impairment.
